Merna Free Wed In Michigan Ceremony


Mr. and Mrs. C. C, Free, 295 E Washington St., are announcing the marriage of their younger daughter, Merna Free, to Carl E. Reid of Pontiac, Mich., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Reid of Detroit, which was a late afternoon event. Nov 21, at Napolean, Ohio. The Rev Dallas Young, read the single ring service in the presence of the bridegroom's sister and brother-in-law, and Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Pfeiffer, clse friends of the couple.


The Wedding party enjoyed a post nuptial dinner in the Napolean Hotel and then drove to Centerline, Mich., where the bridal couple were overnight guest in the home of the bridegroom's sister before returning to Pontiac where they are at home in their newly redecorated and furnished apartment at 17 Walnut St.
The bride wore a blue street-lenght frock with white trim and contrasting black accessories and shoulder corsage of pink rosebuds. Her only jewelry was a string of Pearls. The bridegroom was in the conventional blue business suit.
The bride born and reared in the community, attended all eight grades at Washington school and was graduated from the local high school in 1940. After graduation she was employed as an operator at the local telephone office until a year ago when she resigned to take a position as time-keeper in the office of the American Forging and Socket Company in Pontiac.
The bridegroom, a graduate of the Hillman high school, is employed as an inspector at the Wilson Foundry in Pontiac. The couple is planning to come to Fairfield during the Christmas holidays on a belated wedding trip, if vacations can be arranged.
Several nice courtesies have been extended, the bride in the past few weeks, including parties given by her sister-in-law, one in POntiac and three in Centerline. Another especiallynice affair was the one in Pontiac, in the home of Miss Sadie Brown, factory nurse where Mrs. Reid is employed given by the honoree's fellow office workers, Games and contest were the entertainer.
